Healthy Diet

First I must say that this diet will only work for those who are actually over weight. If you are in your perfect shape or underweight, it will not make you loose more weight, it can actually make people who are underweight gain a few pounds. This is a very healthy diet and will not hurt your health by decreasing your weight to the point where it's unhealthy and dangerous. This diet will allow your body to decide what weight is best for you.

This diet is not about being unable to eat foods you love, it's about replacing foods that are unhealthy with the once that tastes almost the same, but is very healthy. I kid you not, I just ate a huge cake. It tasted good and was actually healthy.

First thing that you have to understand is that body loves to digest things that are natural for it. Body has no problem digesting fats, they are natural and we actually have to eat them in order to stay healthy. However, there are fats that are not natural, trans fats. They are not as easy for the body to use, so it stores these fats in arteries and as fat deposits under your skin. These fats are result of heating foods. Fried chickens are not natural, they don't grow on trees or walk around, they have to be fried by people. Almost every fat will become trans fat if you heat it up. So what can be done it you want some pancakes? Easy, use oils that don't turn into trans fats. Coconut oil is one of these super oils that you can use without fear of gaining weight, it for some reason refuses to change into trans fat when heated.

It is always good to read labels, but you also have to know what to look for, I'm sure you can all find foods that have trans fats. The real challenge however is to find foods that don't have trans fats, here is why: If there is very little trans fat in food, manufacturer doesn't have to write it out but they must write what oils they used. If you see "hydrogenated oil" or "partially hydrogenated oil" then this food has trans fats. Any oil that has been hydrogenated is trans fat.

Be aware of overly processed foods, bleached flour being one of them. The more food is processed the less healthy it is. Many foods that have great health benefits can actually become not only useless, but actually harmful for the body after being processed. If you are buying baked goods, get once that were made from unbleached flour.

Look for E numbers, they are artificial additives, some of them can increase your chances of getting cancer, others can cause allergies. What ever their effect on the body is, they are artificial, and human bodies don't like artificial. I also look at additives to see if I can trust this brand or not. If they add artificial additives to many of their products, I simply loose my trust.

Do minimum cooking. When foods are heated they loose a lot of their positive qualities. It's best to go for the same kind of food that wasn't heated. There are raw restaurants all around US, you can find a lot of them in big cities. They make incredible dishes without ever heating them to the point where they loose their healthy qualities. You can easily find foods that were cooked at low temperature. I'm buying bread that is made from sprouted grains and is baked at a very low temperature. This is one of the best choices in bread I've made. It tastes great and is very healthy.

Go to health food store and see what you can find there. They have great raw cheese, it tastes great and unlike regular cheese it will not give you extra weight. If you like deserts, do a little search, look how you can make raw desert, you'll be surprised.

Last but not least, cut down on the meat. There were many studies done on effects of meat on our overall health, and it's shocking. Eating more than 90 grams of meat a day can significantly increase chances of developing all types of cancer. Meat is also usually cooked, and meat has fat in it, therefore, you get cooked fat, trans fat. When you get meat, get only organic meat, and eat small quantities. You can find so many harmful things in meat that isn't organic that it would scare any person who knows what exactly these chemicals do to your health. If you really want to have 3 hamburgers every day, go for meat free burgers. Even here though you can find health dangers, do not buy vegeburgers that contain non organic soy, this could be very dangerous as soy loves holding on to everything that gets into it, harmful chemicals included.

The key is, eat anything you want as long as it's a healthy food. Once you give your body what it needs, it will be able to do what is best for you. It will be hard at first to find foods that are better for you, but once you will find all the things you love and stay healthy eating these foods, you will not be able to stop eating the healthy way.

If there is food that you love and can't give up eating it, but don't think you can find a healthy alternative, feel free to ask me if I can find a healthy replacement. I'm sure I can find it for almost all foods.

Hi Mrakobesie, I have a question: Is coconut oil the only oil that will not turn into trans fat when heated? Would corn or canola oil be the same too? Hmmmm... Thanks for this healthy hub. It always pays to be reminded that we should loose weight the healthy way. :D

If you can find oils that are cold press you can use them just as well. Oils will turn into trans fat, but you have to heat them up for a very long time, so as long as it's a very quick cooking it shouldn't be that bad. The main problem is that you have to look for cold press oils because many oils are extracted using heat and start changing before you even start cooking with them. I personally love extra virgin cold press olive oil, but I mostly use it in salads, though cooking with them is not nearly as bad as cooking with the same olive oil that was extracted using heat. Coconut is the one I found most resistant to heating, so I use it in foods that have to be heated in any way, but even coconut oil can be ruined. Hydrogen is often added to oils to prolong shelf life and it ruins the quality, coconuts are unfortunately not exception so even that one you'll have to be careful with.

PS: Sorry i didn't respond earlier, was on a camping trip :)
